Girls Basketball:
Bonita had an impressive showing in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 2AA playoffs.
The Bearcats outscored Shalhevet in each of the four quarters, and they defeated their host, 51-32, on Thursday night.
Naomi Acuna hit a pair of 3’s, and she finished with 13 points.
Jordy DeMott also provided 13 points of her own, including 11 in the second half.
Serenity Henderson had 11 points in the win.
Yalee Schwartz scored a game-high 20 points for the Firehawks.
Bonita’s Lexi Mercado chipped in with eight points, and sophomore Brook Van Duyne had six.
Up next: The Bearcats will host top-seeded Moreno Valley on Saturday night.
The Vikings (25-4) cruised to an 83-49 victory over Woodbridge in their first-round contest.
