College Baseball:
One of the great things about baseball is not having to wait too long before getting back on the field after a stinging loss.
In Friday’s season opener, the Pasadena City College pitching staff allowed one run in the eighth inning and three more in the ninth in an 8-7 loss at Cypress.
Fast forward 24 hours, and PCC hammered out a 10-2 victory over Citrus College.
The Lancers out-hit the Owls, 12-3, in Glendora.
Connor Campbell earned the win after going five innings and allowing two runs on one hit.
Campbell walked five and fanned a pair of Citrus batters.
Ernesto Duenas provided four scoreless innings of relief.
Duenas surrendered two hits, didn’t issue a walk and he struck out three batters.
Connor Green singled and drove in one run on a sac fly.
Mario Catalan went 2-for-4, including an RBI double in the third inning to give Citrus a 2-1 lead.
Matthew Santiago walked twice and scored.
Andrew Granados was saddled with the loss after allowing five runs on seven hits over his four innings of work.
Granados issued five walks and fanned two PCC batters.
The Lancers took advantage of three Citrus errors to the tune of four unearned runs.
Tyler Garcia hit a three-run HR in the top of the eighth inning.
Mark Manuel went 3-for-4 with a walk, double and four RBIs.
Adrian Roman singled twice, doubled and had one RBI.
Trevor Scott tripled and scored.
Evan Nahra walked, singled, doubled, scored twice and drove in a run.
Bryan Richman walked three times in the leadoff spot, and he scored three runs.
Ivan Barragan singled, scored and had one RBI.
Up next: Citrus welcomes El Camino on Wednesday at 2.
PCC will host San Joaquin Delta on Thursday at 2 in its home opener.
