Girls Basketball:
It’s an exciting time for both the Bonita boys and girls basketball programs.
The Bearcats have the opportunity to win a pair of Palomares League titles if they win out.
Bonita’s girls needed wins over Ayala on Friday and Claremont on Monday to set up a winner-take-all showdown with visiting Glendora for the league championship this coming Wednesday.
BHS took care of that first win, as they cruised to a 63-26 victory at Ayala.
Jordy DeMott and Lexi Mercado led the way with 16 points apiece.
Naomi Acuna chipped in with 11 points.
Brooke Van Duyne added seven points, and Serenity Henderson contributed six points in the win.
Brooklyn Amaya had four points and Isabella Sigala had three points to close out the scoring for BHS.
Up next: The Bearcats travel to Claremont on Monday night at 5:30.
It will be the third time that BHS and CHS will meet this season.
Claremont defeated Bonita, 43-34, in a December 29th tournament game.
And two weeks later, the Bearcats held serve at home with a 39-26 Palomares League triumph over the Wolfpack.
