Boys Basketball:
Damien looked sharp in Monday’s MLK Classic at the Toyota Center in Ontario.
The Spartans cruised to an 80-44 victory over Marina of Huntington Beach.
DHS took a 49-22 lead into the break, and the Vikings were unable to mount much of a challenge.
Xavier Clinton scored a game-high 22 points for the Spartans, and that included three 3-pointers.
Nate Garcia chipped in with 13 points, while Elijah Smith, Eli Garner and Zaire Rasshan contributed nine points apiece in Monday afternoon’s win.
All nine of Rasshan’s points came from beyond the 3-point arc.
Mark Yeager had three 3’s of his own and led Marina with 13 points.
Dylan Gomez finished with 12 for the Vikings.
Up next: The Spartans will host Rancho Cucamonga (13-7, 2-1) on Tuesday night at 6:30.
