Boys Basketball:
Chino Hills gave Damien everything they had in Tuesday’s Baseline League home game.
But the Spartans would head home with a 58-52 victory to improve to 2-0 in league play.
DHS took a three-point lead into the fourth quarter, and then outscore CHHS, 8-5, in the fourth period.
Nate Garcia had a game-high 28 points.
Garcia scored half of Damien’s eight points in the fourth.
Xavier Clinton chipped in with 13 points and Eli Garner added 10 for the Spartans.
Joaquin Tovera had a team-high 18 points for the Huskies.
Tovera had three third-quarter 3-pointers.
Omar Reese, Tristan Crisostomo and Alex Criner scored eight points apiece in the loss.
Up next: The Spartans travel to Los Osos on Thursday evening at 6:30.
