Boys Basketball:
For the second time in the Classic at Damien, the Spartans were forced to play an overtime period.
On Wednesday, DHS defeated Sunnyslope of Arizona (80-75) in the Platinum Division opener.
Two nights later, Roosevelt of Eastvale edged the Spartans, 76-71, thanks to a 13-8 run in OT.
Brayden Berries hit four 3’s and finished with a game-high 31 points.
Darnez Slater and Myles Walker scored 13 points apiece for the Mustangs.
Xavier Clinton hit four 3-pointers and led Damien with 20 points.
Nate Garcia had 17 points and Eli Garner chipped in with 13.
Up next: Damien will host Salesian College Prep this evening (Saturday) at 5:30.
