Boys Basketball:
Damien handed De La Salle its first loss of the season.
The Spartans secured a 52-42 victory in Thursday’s second round at the Classic at Damien.
DHS is now 2-0 in Platinum Division games.
Damien’s 33-18 run in the second half was key in the Spartans improving to 13-1.
Xavier Clinton went off, scoring 26 points and hitting seven 3-pointers.
Nate Garcia chipped in with 10 points, and Elijah Smith had seven in the win.
Alec Blair led De La Salle with 14 points, and Braddock Kjellesvig contribued nine in the loss.
Up next: Damien will host Roosevelt tonight at 8:30.
The Mustangs (14-1) have tournament victories over Branson (68-64) and Owyhee, (71-66).
