It was the Palomares League opener for both schools.
There was concern for Bonita, because they had four freshmen in the lineup who were wrestling in their first varsity match ever due to injuries to some of the Bearcats top wrestlers.
It was reported that everyone did well, even in some of the losses.
Key matches: Not giving up a pin at 126, only a major decision at 132, a decision at 157 against one of their CIF placers, freshmen pinning at 165, and the pin at 106 with another freshmen was just icing on the cake.
Colony led three different times, but pins by Dylan Garcia (132), Xander Rivas (144), Tristan Fernandez (150), Thomas Jimenez (165), Cole Parra (175) and Lucas Lucero (106) were key.
Bonita also got a tech fall victory by Michael Martinez at 190 pounds.
The dual began at 113 pounds.
