Girls Basketball:
Bonita started and finished strong in Friday’s 64-32 victory over Valencia.
The Bearcats outscored the Vikings, 19-9, in the first quarter, and closed out the game on an 18-2, fourth-quarter run.
BHS had four players in double digits.
Brooke Van Duyne led the way with 17 points.
Lexi Mercado chipped in with 16 points.
Serenity Henderson added 13 and Tressa Beatty contributed 12 points for the Bearcats.
Naomi Acuna (4) and Malei’a Reaves (2) provided six combined points for BHS.
Up next: The Bearcats will battle Marshall Fundamental (8-5) today (Saturday) at 4 in the fifth-place game of the La Salle Tournament.
