Girls Basketball:

What an amazing three-plus weeks it’s been for the Glendora girls basketball program.

Adam Nunemaker’s crew started the season at 1-1, but since then, the Tartans have won 10 consecutive games.

And that includes last weekend’s championship at the Kaiser Tournament, where GHS edged Rancho Cucamonga, 53-51.

Fast forward one week and Glendora would have it its steepest hill to climb.

The Tartans earned a spot in the Covina Tournament final after Friday’s 50-41 triumph of RCHS.

That set up a title-game appearance with Rosary Academy, who entered Saturday’s contest 7-0, and ranked No. 11 in the state by MaxPreps.

The Royals were 33 spots ahead of GHS in that state poll, and they held a slim 24-22 lead at the break.

Glendora, however, would outscore Rosary Academy, 20-3, in the third period, and went on to claim a 50-34 victory.

GHS held the Royals to exactly one-half of their 68-point average in Saturday’s championship.

Allison Clarke led Rosary Academy with 15 points, and Kaiya Borgelt chipped in with 10.

Brianna Gomez finished with 15 points, including three 3’s, and she earned all-tournament honors.

Rylie Anderson added 12 points and was named the tourney’s MVP.

Reagan Herrmann had 11 points and Rebekah Zweerink chipped in with 10.

In the decisive 20-3 third period, Zweerink (6), Gomez (5), Herrmann (5) and Anderson (4) combined for 20 points.

Addison Martin earned all-tournament honors.

Up next: GHS will travel to Ramona on Wednesday at 6:30.
