Boys Basketball:
Damien had one week to digest its one-point loss (55-54) to La Mirada in the title game of the Rumble on Rosecrans Tournament.
It’s the Spartans lone setback of the season.
And Mike LeDuc’s boys came to play on Saturday.
Damien put a 71-41 beatdown on Hillcrest.
The Spartans led by 15 points after one quarter and took a 49-17 lead into the break.
Nate Garcia had a game-high 22 points.
Eli Garner and Xavier Clinton scored 11 points apiece, and Lucas Arrieta chipped in with 10 points.
McKel Shedrick paced Hillcrest’s offense with 14 points.
Up next: Damien travels to Beverly Hills on Thursday.
