Girls Basketball:
Not a bad opening week for the Flintridge Prep girls basketball program.
The Wolves went 3-1 and defeated Liberty of Bakersfield, 53-38, in the championship game of the Redondo Union Tournament.
Maddie Smith earned the tournament MVP.
Smith finished in style with 19 points, eight rebounds, two assists and three steals.
Hailey Louie chipped in with eight points and five rebounds off the bench.
Addie Lee, Akemi Fu and Megan Quoch scored six points apiece for the Wolves.
Faith Curry led Liberty with 13 points and Elle Statler had 10.
Up next: The Wolves host Keppel on Thursday at 7 in a game that raises money for the Children’s Cancer Hospital.
