Gomez & Anderson Score 18 Points Apiece in GHS’ 66-28 Victory Over Kennedy in First Round of Oxford Tournament

Girls Basketball:

Glendora jumped out early in the season opener, and they cruised to a 66-28 victory over Kennedy at the Oxford Tournament.

The Tartans had a 7-2 edge in 3-pointers, and the Fighting Irish never mounted much of a threat.

Brianna Gomez (18) and Rylie Anderson (18) outscored Kennedy, 36-28, on their own.

Gomez hit four 3-pointers and two of Anderson’s seven baskets came behind the 3-point arc.

Madeline Hsu led KHS with eight points.

Glendora got eight points from Addison Martin, while Milana Luera, Reagan Herrmann and Rebekah Zweerink chipped in with five points apiece.

Up next: The Tartans battle Buena Park in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday at 4:30.

The Coyotes (1-0) thumped La Serna, 63-16, in their season opener.
