College Football:

Pasadena City College finished the regular season at 9-1 after a 30-22 victory at LA Valley College.

The Lancers offense could muster just 169 yards of total offense on Saturday, but the PCC defense allowed just a 1-yard TD run by Bryan Massengal, and an 11-yard TD pass from Wesley Tshimang to Harrison Bock in the fourth quarter.

The only other LAVC score was a 72-yard pick-six by Tony Newsome in the first quarter.

And the Lancers defense surrendered just 181 yards of total offense.

PCC got out to a 13-0 lead and never trailed.

The closest the game got was 13-7 after Newsome’s pick-six.

It’s rare to start the stats with special teams, but Justin Vergara deserves some attention.

Vergara made field goals of 41, 22 and 35 yards, which essentially ended up being the difference.

Devon Mayes picked up a blocked punt and brought it back 27 yards to give the Lancers a 10-0 lead.

Seventy-three seconds after the above-mentioned pick-six, Kekahi Graham hooked up with Jacob Turowetz on a 13-yard TD.

That extended the PCC lead to 21-7.

Graham struggled, going 14-of-30 for 102 yards.

He had the TD pass to Turowetz, and he was picked three times.

Isaac Glover (10 carries) and Wyatt Oak (3) both had 18 rushing yards apiece to lead the Lancers ground game.

Turowetz had four receptions for 29 yards, and he converted on a 2-point run in the first quarter.

Torriq Brumfield’s 46-yard pick-six in the third quarter gave the Lancers a 30-14 lead, and it seemed to be the dagger.

Adrian Ramirez led the PCC defense with nine tackles (2.5 for loss) and a sack.

Jachai Pulley tallied six tackles, while Kyden Bailey and Israel Duncan had five tackles apiece.

Bailey and Duncan both had sacks on Saturday.

Brumfield had four tackles and broke up two passes to go along with his pick-six.

The Lancers went 5-0 en route to an American Pacific Conference championship.

Up next: It looks like PCC will get a chance next week to avenge their only loss of the season next Saturday.

Back on September 30th, Chaffey defeated the Lancers, 31-21, in Rancho Cucamonga.
