Koy Riggin Tosses 3 TD Passes in Citrus’ 38-22 National Central Conference Victory at OCC; Owls Improve to 6-3

Saturday’s game stats were much closer than the final score.

The Owls traveled to Costa Mesa and defeated winless Orange Coast College, 38-22, in a National Central Conference contest.

But check out these stats:

As we all know, however, the only stat that matters is the scoreboard.

Citrus jumped out to a 14-0 lead, as Koy Riggin tossed TD passes of 20 and 11 yards, respectively, to Jesse Carmona and Julian Walker.

The closest OCC got was 14-7 when Zach Congalton scored on a 49-yard run with 1:49 to play in the first quarter.

But the Owls never trailed and they were never in any danger of losing.

Riggin completed 18-of-24 for 200 yards.

Riggin had the three TD passes and he was picked once.

Tayvonne Miller had a game-high 87 yards on 20 carries, and that included an 11-yard TD run in the waning moments of the third quarter.

Kannon Katzer gained 52 yards on 19 carries.

Katzer had a 10-yard TD run early in the second quarter, and Citrus led, 21-7.

Riggin would close out the Owls scoring on a 36-yard TD pass to Julian Borrayo.

Carmona finished with four catches for 52 yards and the TD, and Walker had four receptions for 33 yards.

Congalton completed 27-of-46 for 207 yards for OCC.

He tossed a 5-yard TD pass to Joseph Flanniga with 3:43 to play in the game.

Congalton also had 65 yards rushing on 10 carries, which included TD runs of 49 and 6 yards.

Flanniga caught eight passes for 48 yards, and Zyun McGee had seven passes for 63 yards.

Dominic Garcia had seven tackles and a pick for the Citrus defense.

Chandler Carthan had another monster game with 15 tackles, including one for-loss.

Hunter Corbin finished with seven tackles and a sack.

Xavier Black tallied three tackles and an interception.

Up next: The Owls close out the 2023 season next Saturday, as LBCC travels to Glendora for a 1 pm kickoff.

The Vikings are coming off a 70-14 ass kicking at the hands of Mt. SAC.
