College Football:
Citrus College jumped out to a 31-7 first-half lead at Cerritos, and they would hold on for a 31-26 victory.
The Owls had a 425-225 advantage in total yards.
Kannon Katzer seems to be getting stronger as the season goes on.
Katzer had 231 yards of total offense.
He carried the ball 22 times for 131 yards, and that included TD runs of 1 and 25 yards.
Katzer also caught a 90-yard TD pass from Jack Benson in the second quarter to extend the Citrus lead to 31-7.
He finished with four receptions for 100 yards.
Benson completed 8-of-15 for 165 yards, and he was picked once, as well as the TD pass to Katzer.
Koy Riggin was 7-of-10 for 80 yards.
Jesse Carmona had four receptions for 76 yards, and the Owls sophomore threw an 11-yard TD pass to Donovan Zackery.
Erik Saiz caught two passes for 29 yards.
Andre Lampley completed 12-of-23 for 155 yards in Saturday’s loss.
Lampley tossed a 23-yard TD pass to Chase Grosfield, and he was picked twice.
Former Northview High School star Cheo Medina led the Cerritos ground game with 59 yards on 17 carries.
Medina scored on 2-and-1-yard TD runs.
Gavin Porch had four receptions for 62 yards, and Grosfield caught four passes for 57 yards.
Citrus’ Chandler Carthan had a huge game for the Owls defense.
Carthan had a game-high 10 tackles to go with a sack and interception.
Joshua Garcia and Jonathan Calderon totaled seven tackles apiece, while Drew Merrill and Cody Stordahl finished with six tackles each.
Hunter Corbin had four tackles with 2.5 sacks and a pick.
