Football:

Northview and San Dimas had byes in week seven, and it took both programs a while to get into a consistent offensive rhythm in the Valle Vista League opener for both programs.

And it didn’t help either team to have such a noticeable presence by the officiating crew in the form of yellow flags littering the field.

The Saints scored on the first play of the game, when a Vikings defensive back fell down, and Brandon Meredith took advantage and hit Julian Vigil on a 74-yard TD pass.

Unfortunately for SDHS, the Saints wouldn’t score again until the final minutes of Friday’s 26-12 loss to visiting Northview.

Erik Jimenez had an effective night running the NHS offense.

Jimenez threw three TD passes, including an 18-yard scoring strike to Dylan Ochoa, which gave the Vikings a 7-6 lead.

Angel Barraza followed that up with a 3-yard TD run and a 14-6 advantage.

Jimenez would find Dwayne Thompson on a pair of Northview touchdowns to pull away, including this one:

As mentioned, SDHS scored on a 1-yard TD run by Brandon Meredith to close out the scoring for both teams.

San Dimas had a pick-six called back, and to their credit, the Saints fought valiantly from the first to final whistle.

NHS got nearly 180 combined rushing yards from Keanu Tauvao and Angel Barraza.

Thompson had north of 100 yards receiving.

Northview extended its current winning streak to six games, and they’ve won three consecutive against the Saints.
