Football:
The outcome of Friday’s Bonita-Sierra Vista showdown was never in doubt.
The Bearcats scored the game’s first 49 points, and went on to defeat the Dons, 49-6, in BHS’ final nonleague game of the 2023 regular season.
Jayden Montenegro had TD runs of 1 and 43 yards.
And after one score, Beth Oualline got this beautiful photo of Jayden shaking hands and smiling with his little brother, Jaxson Montenegro.
Dylan Robinson caught a 63-yard TD pass from Daniel Mielke.
Adrian McCoy scored on a 50-yard run in the second quarter to extend the Bearcats lead to 42-0.
BHS got a 16-yard TD run from Cole Parra.
Daiveon Woodley had a 14-yard TD run.
And Drew Apodaca capped Bonita’s scoring with a 3-yard TD run in the third quarter.
Sierra Vista’s lone score of the game came on a 3-yard TD run from Gabriel Garcia with 4:15 remaining in the game.
Up next: The Bearcats travel to Ayala next Friday to open Mountain West League play.
The Bulldogs (3-4) fell to visiting San Clemente, 42-13, on Friday.
