Football:
The 76-mile drive to and from Hesperia wasn’t that bad after all.
Of course it helped that St. Francis headed back to La Canada with a 42-13 victory at Sultana.
And the Golden Knights enter their bye week at 4-1.
John Sanders found Tyler Cofre on a 26-yard TD pass to give SFHS a 7-0 first-quarter lead.
John Calmette’s 1-yard TD run doubled the Golden Knights advantage to 14-0.
Calmette would score 1-and-3-yard TD’s in the second quarter.
And Sanders found Cofre again, this time it was a 10-yard TD connection.
St. Francis led 35-13 at the break and the Golden Knights defense held Sultana scoreless in the second half.
Sandy Sharp’s 13-yard TD run in the fourth closed out the St. Francis scoring.
Up next: The Golden Knights will take next week off, and then on Friday, September 29th, St. Francis will open Angelus League play at home against Loyola.
The Cubs are 1-3.
