Football:
One of the area’s most compelling week-four matchups pits Etiwanda against Glendora.
The Eagles and Tartans have both started the 2023 season with identical 4-0 records, and they’ll meet up on Friday night at Citrus College.
GHS and EHS have one opponent in common.
The Eagles defeated Jurupa Hills, 34-7, last Friday, while Glendora claimed a 27-13 victory over the Spartans in week one.
Demaricus Davis is back and running the offense some 10 months after leading the Eagles to a 45-42 victory over St. Francis in the CIF-SS Division 5 title game.
Midway through the third quarter, EHS trailed the Golden Knights 35-9, but Davis engineered one of the most epic comebacks in recent memory.
He’s thrown for 805 yards and seven TD’s.
Jaiden Moss is also back, and has carried the ball 50 times for 212 yards and five TD’s.
Jaden Landrum is Davis’ favorite target, as Landrum leads the Eagles in catches (23), TD’s (3) and receiving yards (280).
After a down year in 2022, Glendora is back in business.
The Tartans are getting solid play throughout and in all phases of the game.
But with quarterbacks being such an important factor in the success or lack thereof, Eric Najarro has earned much press attention of late.
For the season, Najarro is 60-of-102 for 1,000 yards.
He’s thrown 14 TD passes, including six in week three, and the GHS senior has been picked twice.
Simon Zwick has led the GHS ground game, rushing for 244 yards and two TD’s.
Decker DeGraaf is off to a massive start to his senior season.
DeGraaf has 24 catches for 483 yards and six TD’s.
Tim Johnson has been hot of late, and has 16 receptions for 284 yards and five TD’s, including three last week at Pacifica.
Glendora has scored 95 points over the last two weeks, while Etiwanda has 61.
The game is slated for 7 on Friday night at Citrus College.
