There are a number of athletes responsible for Glendora starting the 2023 season at 4-0.
And that long list includes the offensive line, running backs, receivers, defense and special teams.
But one could make the argument that no one has played a bigger role in their success as has Eric Najarro.
On Thursday, the GHS quarterback went 17-of-23 for 285 yards in the Tartans 49-7 victory at Pacifica.
Najarro threw six TD passes and didn’t turn the ball over.
His first score of the night was a 70-yard strike to Tim Johnson.
Johnson had additional TD receptions of 32 and 12 yards.
Najarro also found Decker DeGraaf on a 33-yard TD, Christopher Solis-Lumar from six yards out, and Colby Lippert hooked up with Najarro on a 5-yard TD.
In the last two weeks alone, Najarro has thrown nine TD’s in blowout victories over Pacifica and Charter Oak (46-22).
GHS has already matched last year’s win total, and did so 50 days before the Tartans 2022 team reached the four-win mark.
Up next: Glendora will get a massive challenge next Friday when they host Etiwanda.
The Eagles (4-0) are the defending CIF-SS Division 5 champions and they’ve outscored Mira Mesa, Ayala, St. Pius & Jurupa Hills by a combined margin of 120-55.
