Football:
Since a week-zero, last-second loss to Glendora, the Chino Hills football program has reeled off three consecutive wins.
The Huskies began their win streak against Charter Oak (21-17), and then claimed a 36-3 victory at JW North.
On Friday, Chino Hills scored the game’s first 17 points and secured a 19-7 victory at Colony.
After being picked twice, and facing a 4th-and-9 scenario, the Huskies’ Nolan Ellison hit Jalen Thompson-Delgado on a 31-yard TD pass.
CHHS took that 7-0 lead into the break after stopping the Titans on a 4th-and-goal play from the Huskies 3-yard line.
One play after Colony botched a snap on a punt attempt, Ellison scored on a 19-yard run to extend the lead to 14-0 with 10:19 to play in the third quarter.
Colony trailed 17-0 after a 27-yard CHHS field goal by Jordan Corona.
Jacob Montoya’s 19-yard TD pass to Armon Hornsby with 8:09 to play would pull the Titans to within 17-7.
If there were any hopes for a late Colony comeback, a safety and a Ty Roberts interception all but Colony’s chances.
Up next: Chino Hills travels to Ayala this coming Friday.
The Bulldogs (1-2) had a week-three bye.
