Rio Hondo Prep dominated its visitor from Huntington Park, 42-14, on Friday.
The Kares scored the first 42 points before Marquez (2-2) was able to find their way into the end zone for a pair of late-game TD’s.
After a slow first quarter, RHP scored three times in the second period and took a 28-0 lead into the break.
Rio Hondo Prep had a 297-215 advantage in total yards offensively, and their ground game out-rushed the Gladiators, 194-17.
Noah Penunuri led RHP with 89 yards on nine carries, and that included TD runs of 1 and 41 yards.
Nate Curtis carried the ball four times for 60 yards, with 36 of those yards coming on a TD run in the second quarter to give the Kares a 14-0 lead.
Caeden Holcomb had TD runs of 1 and 10 yards, and finished with 32 yards on eight carries.
Yanick Diaz completed 6-of-10 for 103 yards.
Nathaniel Shine had one catch for 39 yard, Joshua Taflinger had two receptions for 32 yards and Diaz tossed a 29-yard pass to Curtis.
Rainn Pollock intercepted an Anthony Rosales pass and jogged 16 yards into the south end zone to extend the RHP lead to 21-0.
Rosales tossed a 37-yard TD to Daniel Ardon and a 40-yard scoring strike to Lamonth White with 8:05 and 1:22 remaining in the game, respectively, to account for the Marquez points.
Rosales completed 12-of-20 for 198 yards.
Up next: The Kares host Boron next Friday at 7.
The Bobcats (4-0) secured a 55-12 victory on Friday over visiting Sierra.
