College Football:
PCC opened the 2023 season with a rare Friday night game.
And the Lancers made quite the statement.
PCC scored the game’s first 24 points and cruised to a 55-35 victory over visiting Santa Ana College.
The Lancers led by as many as 34 points (41-7).
Santa Ana actually had a 497-359 advantage in total yards, but the only stat that mattered was brightly shining on the scoreboard.
Kekahi Graham completed 13-of-22 for 162 yards, and that included three TD’s and two picks.
Graham also carried the ball five times for 25 yards, and his 2-yard TD run capped the Lancers scoring.
Graham hit LeMonte Holmes on a 15-yard TD, Daniel Schwam from 16 yards out, and he tossed a 40-yard scoring strike to Drushun Phillips.
Phillips had two catches for 48 yards.
Isaac Glover had a game-high 96 yards rushing on 12 carries, and two scores.
Glover had TD runs of 27 and 13 yards.
Santa Ana’s Dallen Engemann completed 15 of his 33 pass attempts for 381 yards.
Engemann threw five TD passes, but the PCC defense picked him five times.
Malachi Pierce caught five passes for 138 yards and three TD’s, and Cannon King had five receptions for 101 yards and a score.
William Saucedo led the Santa Ana ground game with 61 yards on 15 carries.
Eli Moulton picked two passes for the PCC defense, while Kyden Bailey, Idriq Carmichael and Keiyon Johnson picked Engemann once each.
Bailey finished with a game-high nine tackles, and Jachai Pulley had seven.
Up next: PCC travels to West LA next Saturday at 2.
