Football:
The lethal combo of (quarterback) Eric Najarro and Decker DeGraaf (tight end) shined bright on Friday night.
The GHS tandem hooked up for three TD’s in a 46-22 victory over visiting Charter Oak.
Najarro found DeGraaf on TD strikes of 51, 31 and 42 yards.
They also teamed up on a 2-point conversion after the 42-yard score.
GHS (3-0) is 49 days ahead of last year’s pace.
Glendora trounced Los Osos, 48-14, back on October 20th, to pick up win No. 3 in 2022.
In all, DeGraaf caught six passes for 202 yards, and forced a fumble on defense.
Najarro completed 12 of his 20 pass attempts for 232 yards and the three scores.
He also rushed for 49 yards on three carries, and that included an 18-yard TD run late in the third quarter.
GHS got out to a 25-6 lead at the half, and never trailed.
Charter Oak got to within 25-14 when LaVar Arrington caught a 9-yard TD pass from Corin Berry with 5:06 remaining in the third quarter.
Berry had a 3-yard TD pass to Legend Lyons in the first quarter, and he executed a pair of 2-point conversions.
Aaron Rivera scored on a 4-yard run for COHS in the fourth quarter.
Simon Zwick led the GHS ground game with 100 yards rushing on 26 carries.
Zwick’s 6-yard TD run early in the fourth quarter extended the Glendora lead to 39-14.
Christopher Solis-Lumar and Caden Smith both had interceptions for the Glendora defense.
Up next: GHS and COHS both play road games this coming Thursday.
The Tartans travel to Garden Grove to battle Pacifica (0-2), and the Chargers visit Yorba Linda (1-2)
