After spotting Jurupa Hills a first-quarter TD in a week-one showdown, Glendora took over from there.

The Tartans headed home from Fontana on Thursday night with a 27-13 victory, and they improved to 2-0.

Last year, GHS didn’t earn win No. 2 until week five.

Eric Moreno caught a 19-yard TD pass from Caleb Ruiz just before the end of the first quarter to give the Spartans a 7-0 lead.

Glendora answered back when Eric Najarro connected with Tim Johnson on a 2-yard score early in the second quarter.

The Tartans took its first lead of the game approximately 10 minutes later, as Matthew Jordan rumbled in from one yard out.

GHS extended their lead to 21-7 in the third quarter, thanks to a 20-yard strike from Najarro to Decker DeGraaf.

Ruiz would pull Jurupa Hills to within 21-13 after his four-yard TD run with 11:53 to play.

But Simon Zwick’s 2-yard TD run with 4:16 to play was all the insurance the Tartans would need.

Najarro finished his night 16-of-29 for 201 yards and two scores.

Zwick carried the ball 17 times for 75 yards.

DeGraaf had seven receptions for 127 yards, and a strip sack on defense with five minutes to play.

Up next: Glendora will host Charter Oak on Friday at Citrus College.

The Chargers fell, 21-17, at Chino Hills.
