If Thursday’s season opener is any indication, the Maranatha girls volleyball program is going to be fun to watch.
MHS welcomed Monrovia to their gym and dropped the first two games.
But Maranatha would rally for a five-set victory by scores of 16-25, 20-25, 25-17, 25-22 and 15-9.
There were a number of contributors to the win, but none more so than junior Belen Casillas and freshman Cheyenne Throop.
The MHS duo combined for 33 of the 37 kills.
Casillas finished with 16 and Throop provided 16 kills.
Up next: The Lady Minutemen will host Bishop Amat on Monday, San Marino on Tuesday and travel to South Hills on Thursday.
MHS will finish up the week on Saturday, where they’ll battle Crescenta Valley, Ramona Convent and Monrovia at the Pasadena Poly Tournament.
