Terry Goes Five & Allows One Earned Run in La Verne’s 12-8 SCIAC Tourney Victory Over CMS; Reese Hits Grand Slam & Drives in Five

College Baseball:

One day after dropping its SCIAC Tournament opener, 8-4, to Cal Lutheran, the University of La Verne pounded out a 12-8 victory over Claremont-Mudd Scripps.

And the Leopards did so in spite of committing five errors.

Gerald Terry got the win after going five innings and allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits.

Terry walked four and registered four strikeouts.

Benny Vogel provided 2 1/3 scoreless and hitless innings in relief, including a pair of strikeouts to earn the save.

Julian Sanders hit a three-run HR in the top of the sixth to pull CMS to within 12-6 of ULV.

Paul Roche went 2-for-4, with a walk, single, double, run and two RBIs.

Tyler Shaw drew three walks and scored twice.

Bryce Didrickson walked twice, singled and scored.

Mitchell Mashiko singled, scored and had an RBI.

Jarrett Korson got the loss, allowing eight runs on 10 hits in 3 1/3 innings.

Korson walked one and fanned one La Verne batter.

The Leopards out-hit the Stags, 12-7, and amassed a 10-2 lead after four innings.

Logan Reese was the offensive star of the game.

Reese had an RBI single in the bottom of the first and a grand slam in the third.

He finished 3-for-5 with two runs and five RBIs.

Noah Garcia walked twice, had two singles, three runs and an RBI.

Nathan Perry and Anthony Salcedo singled and scored one run each.

Chase Siffert walked, singled and scored a pair of runs.

Cam Slessor had an RBI double in the fifth inning.

Malachi Francois walked, singled, scored twice and had one RBI.

Ryan Vosika walked, singled, scored and drove in one.

Aiden Salcedo walked and had an RBI single.

Up next: La Verne meets up with Chapman this morning (Saturday) at 11.
