Baseball:
San Marino won its seventh consecutive game on Friday, and it earned them a spot in Tuesday’s CIF-SS Division 6 semifinal round.
The Titans got two runs in the bottom of the third and Michael Liquori made that stand up.
Liquori went the distance and allowed an unearned run in San Marino’s 2-1 victory over visiting Campbell Hall.
Liquori scattered three hits, didn’t issue a walk and struck out six.
He needed 91 pitches to finish what he started, and 61 went for strikes.
Gabe Williams led off the top of the sixth with a single and scored three batters later on a Jackson Fowler sac fly.
Myles Prather and JJ Sassower had one hit apiece to account for the rest of the Vikings’ offense.
Tanner Mahon got the loss, despite allowing just two unearned runs on three hits.
He issued three walks and registered four strikeouts.
In the bottom of the third inning, Kyle Ly and Tyler Giddings singled.
Sid Danenhauer bunted and reached on an error by the first baseman, and that also allowed Ly and Giddings to score.
JJ Wilson walked and had San Marino’s other base hit on Friday.
Up next: The Titans will host Hesperia Christian on Tuesday in the D-6 semifinals.
The Patriots (17-2) defeated Norwalk, 8-3, on Friday.
