Baseball:
Monrovia’s 2023 season came to an end on Wednesday.
The Wildcats fell, 7-0, in a CIF-SS Division 2 wild card game.
Riley Ricken controlled throughout.
Ricken tossed a four-hit shutout.
He walked one and registered nine strikeouts.
Troy Grise had half of Monrovia’s four hits.
Noah Ellison and Jared Cardenas had the other two.
Andrew Cito got the loss after allowing two runs on three hits over 3 1/3 innings.
Cito issued a pair of walks and struck out two Great Oak batters.
The Wolfpack got four more off Zach Menlove.
Menlove went two innings, scattered four hits, walked one and fanned one.
Ricken helped his own cause, going 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs.
Gavin Fien singled twice, doubled, scored and had one RBI.
Nate Smith singled and scored.
