Baseball:
The two-game Baseline League lead that Damien enjoyed at the beginning of the week is gone.
On Monday, Etiwanda secured an 11-3 victory at DHS.
Today, trailing 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Eagles scored twice, and defeated the Spartans, 6-5.
With one game to play, Damien will host Etiwanda on Friday for the league championship.
But back to Wednesday.
In the bottom of the seventh, Austen Roellig doubled, Brady Ebel walked and Anthony Huezo singled Roellig home to tie the game at 5-5.
Parker Sobiesiak was hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded, and Etiwanda claimed a walk-off, 6-5 victory.
Justin Ries was responsible for three runs on five hits over 2 1/3 innings.
Ries issued two walks and struck out one.
Rudy O’Dell went 3 2/3 innings and allowed three runs on four hits.
O’Dell walked three and fanned four EHS batters.
Ebel went 2-for-3, as the sophomore walked, doubled and scored.
Huezo walked twice, doubled, had the RBI and scored twice.
Tyler McEvoy singled, doubled and drove in a pair of runs.
Tyler Shigenaka doubled, scored and had an RBI.
Mike Harrison singled and had one RBI.
Dylan Goff got touched up for four runs (two earned) on 10 hits over his five innings.
Goff walked a pair and struck out four.
Ryan Severns got the last six outs, and he allowed one run on one hit.
Severns walked two and registered four strikeouts.
Justin Dunn went 2-for-5 with a run and RBI.
Julian Hines singled twice and had an RBI.
Tyler Daley walked and had an RBI single.
Andrew Carter walked, singled and scored.
Ty Tancredi singled, scored and had an RBI.
Christian Grino walked, singled and scored.
Nikko Paoletto walked and singled.
Jett Hernandez and Dom Ramirez had one single apiece for the Spartans.
Up next: EHS travels to DHS on Friday at 3:15.
