Palencia’s Star Shined Bright in Arcadia’s 5-4 Victory Over CV; AHS Junior Doubles Twice & Strikes Out Falcon w/Bases Loaded in 7th

Arcadia headed into the final week of the regular season needing a sweep of rival Crescenta Valley to continue their rein atop the Pacific League standings.

The Apaches held serve at home, 5-4, on Tuesday night, and did so in dramatic fashion.

AHS and CV are both 12-1 in league games and meet up Friday at Stengel Field to decide the Pacific League championship.

Arcadia scored two runs in the bottom of the first and got three more in the second to take a 5-1 lead.

The Falcons would get three in the top of the fourth and had the bases loaded in the seventh.

But Fernando Palencia, who has quietly turned in one of the SGV area’s best all-around performances in 2023, struck out Brandon Kwon looking to secure the victory.

Ian Hoffstetter went six innings for the Apaches, and he surrendered four runs on eight hits.

He walked three and struck out eight CV batters.

Jake Deno went 3-for-4.

Tyler Garland singled twice and scored.

Everett Pam went 3-for-4, scored twice and had an RBI.

Kwon had an RBI single.

Jimmy Spears walked, singled and had an RBI.

Jake Rendo walked and scored.

Nico Terenzi went all six for the visitors and allowed five runs on nine hits.

He issued three walks and fanned two AHS batters.

Palencia walked twice, had two doubles, scored a pair of runs and had one RBI.

Devon Eskridge singled and scored two runs.

Christian Garcia doubled and had a pair of RBIs.

Brayden Herrera doubled and drove in a run.

Maverick Silva walked, singled twice and scored.

Up next: The Pacific League championship with be decided on Friday night at Stengel Field.

The first pitch is set for 7.
