Heading into this week, the defending Baseline League and CIF D-2 title holders trailed first-place Damien by two games.
And the Eagles and Spartans meet up three times this week.
Etiwanda made a huge statement on Monday.
EHS pounded out an 11-3 victory at Damien, and out-hit the Spartans, 15-7.
Andrew Carter, who has been incredible all season, was roughed up for seven runs on eight hits over 3 2/3 innings.
Carter issued two walks and fanned three EHS batters.
Austen Roellig went 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.
Brady Ebel walked twice, had two singles and scored four times.
Anthony Huezo went 3-for-4 with a walk, two singles, a double, scored twice and drove in a pair.
Tyler McEvoy singled, doubled and drove in a run.
Parker Sobiesiak singled twice with an RBI.
Luke Mendoza walked, singled twice and scored a pair of runs.
Jake Furnald singled and had an RBI.
Ebel went the first four innings and allowed two runs on four hits.
He walked two and fanned a pair of Spartans.
Cadan Montes got the last nine outs.
Montes surrendered one run on three hits.
He didn’t issue a walk and struck out three DHS batters.
Justin Dunn doubled and scored for the Spartans.
Daniel Serna went 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
