Rancho Cucamonga caught Upland in the Baseline League standings on Monday.
The Cougars defeated the visiting Highlanders, 4-2, and with two to play, UHS and RCHS are both 5-8.
Both pitchers, Brock Foulds and Nate Marquez, went the distance.
Foulds allowed two runs on six hits.
He didn’t issue a walk and fanned three UHS batters.
Julian McCord went 2-for-3 and scored.
Griffin Cunningham singled and scored.
Christian Gomez singled and had two RBIs.
Martin Hernandez and Diego Estrada had one hit apiece for the Highlanders.
Nate Marquez allowed four first-inning runs, but only one was earned.
Marquez surrendered nine hits, walked three and struck out a pair of RCHS batters.
Owen Dunn went 2-for-3, scored and had one RBI.
Jonathan Manuel singled twice and had a pair of RBIs.
Jacob Peyton and Brock Foulds walked, singled and scored one run apiece.
