Baseball:
Bishop Amat officially secured the Del Rey League championship on Monday.
With one game to play, the Lancers defeated visiting La Salle, 5-4, to improve to 11-0 in league.
With the game tied at 5-5 in the bottom of the seventh, Luke Viola drew a one-out walk and Isaiah Hernandez’s two-out RBI double was the difference.
Sean Suriyaniel went 4 1/3 innings and allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits.
He walked one and fanned a pair of Lancers.
Izaac Muniz got the final eight outs without any damage.
Muniz allowed two hits, walked one and struck out three.
Will Clougherty’s bat has been hot of late.
On Monday, the La Salle senior went 3-for-3, with a walk, single, double, triple and scored three runs.
Hunter Vigil had a pair of singles and an RBI.
David Mysza singled and had one RBI.
Moses Aguirre singled and scored.
Travis Ochoa walked and had an RBI.
Val Gomez went four innings, allowing four runs on seven hits.
Gomez walked four and struck out two Amat batters.
Morgan Sullivan surrendered one run on two hits.
Sullivan issued one walk and fanned two.
Hernandez had a monster day for Amat.
He went 4-for-4, with two doubles, a run and two RBIs, including the game winner.
Viola walked, singled twice and scored a pair of runs.
Cameron Casado walked, singled and scored twice.
Jordan Pasillas had a single and an RBI.
Up next: La Salle finishes out its regular season schedule by hosting Bishop Amat on Wednesday at 3:15.
