Batres Went Five, Allowing One Earned Run, Striking Out 10 & Hitting Three-Run HR in Northview’s 10-7 Victory Over Covina

Northview has put itself in a position to finish third in the Valle Vista League, and that would significantly aid their chances in earning a playoff spot.

On Friday, the Vikings claimed a 10-7 VVL victory over visiting Covina.

Sal Batres went five innings and allowed four runs (one earned) on four hits.

Batres walked three and punched out 10 Covina batters.

Jacob Ramos closed out the win with one scoreless inning in relief, including one strikeout.

Mike Bang walked, homered, drove in a pair and scored three runs.

Anthony Cordova singled and scored twice.

Max Rendon walked twice, singled and had two RBIs.

Noah Echeverria walked and scored.

Jesse Hernandez went 2-for-2 for the Colts, and Jaime Lopez walked twice and singled.

Rudy Ponce tripled.

Northview got to Ricky Alvarez for three runs on six hits over 4 1/3 innings.

He walked six and fanned a pair of Vikings.

Jaime Lopez only went 2/3 of an inning and he was charged with four runs on three hits and two walks.

Bang went one inning, allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits and a walk.

Batres helped his own cause, going 2-for-5, with two runs and a three-run HR.

Dylan Ramos walked, singled twice, scored and had three RBIs.

Joey Ramos singled, tripled and scored a pair of runs.

Issac Nava walked, doubled and scored twice.

Jacob Ramos drew a pair of walks, singled, scored twice and drove in two.

Dean Curley walked and had two singles.

Anthony Flores walked twice and singled.

Josh Sanchez walked and scored.

Up next: The Vikings close out the 2023 regular season with a two-game set against West Covina.

NHS and WCHS head into Tuesday’s showdown with identical 4-4 marks in VVL play.
