San Marino Goes From 0-4 in Rio Hondo League Play to Tied for First w/One Week to go; Titans Defeat La Canada, 8-3, on Thursday

You can’t make this up.

It’s too good of a story.

San Marino lost the first four games of Rio Hondo League play.

And did so by scores of 3-2 to Temple City, 2-1 in eight against South Pasadena, 4-3 versus Monrovia, and 2-1 to La Canada.

Fast forward 33 days, and San Marino has won six in a row.

And with two games to play, the Titans are in a three-way tie for first with Monrovia and South Pasadena.

On top of that, San Marino and Monrovia meet up this Monday and Thursday to end their regular season schedules.

To get to this point, they needed and secured an 8-3 victory today at La Canada.

SMHS scored three runs in the top of the sixth and seventh innings to pull away.

Tomas Bilvado went 5 2/3 innings to earn the win.

Bilvado allowed two runs on five hits.

He walked three and struck out a pair of La Canada batters.

Coleman Morning got the last four outs, and he surrendered one run on three hits.

Josh Proctor walked, singled twice, doubled and scored all three San Marino runs.

Justin McCubbin went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

And Alex Higa had an RBI single.

Cash Carroll went three innings for the Spartans, allowing two runs on five hits.

Leon Chen was touched up for three runs on three hits over his three innings.

And Ben Kim went one inning and surrendered three runs (two earned) on two hits.

Tyler Giddings singled and scored.

Ryan Park went 2-for-3 and scored a pair of runs.

Truman Koch singled three times, scored twice and had an RBI.

Morning walked twice, singled, scored a pair of runs, and drove in two.

Sebastian Liquori singled and drove in a pair of runs.

JJ Wilson singled and had one RBI.

Sid Danenhauer singled once in Thursday’s win.
