Rivera’s Arm & Bats of Billings, Woodward, Easter, Mayer, Ramirez & Porter Lead Chaffey to an 11-2 IEAC Victory Over Cerro Coso

College Baseball:

Chaffey is now within an arm’s length of an IEAC championship.

After its 11-2 victory over Cerro Coso on Thursday, and Desert’s 5-1 triumph of Mt. San Jacinto, the Panthers enjoy a four-game lead with just five games to play in the 2023 regular season.

Chaffey out-hit the Coyotes, 14-4.

Jordan Bowman was saddled with the loss, allowing five runs on seven hits over three innings.

Austin Easter went 3-for-5 with four runs and an RBI.

Jacob Billings hit a two-run HR.

Michael Woodward walked, singled twice, scored and had an RBI.

Clay Porter drew a pair of walks, doubled and scored.

Steven Mara singled, doubled, scored and drove in a pair of runs.

Brock Mayer walked twice, singled, doubled and scored.

Yahir Ramirez had an RBI single and a solo HR.

Aaron Whobrey drove in a run on a sac fly and scored once in Thursday’s win.

James Rivera was solid, going seven innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits.

Rivera issued one walk and struck out eight.

Brentt Olmo had three of Cerro Coso’s four hits, including a solo home run.

Stephen Moraski singled to account for the Coyotes other base hit.

Up next: The Panthers go for the sweep on Saturday at Cerro Coso.
