Baseball:
To say Maranatha has steamrolled its Olympic League competition would be quite an understatement.
On Wednesday, the Minutemen improved to 11-0 in league after a 14-0, five-inning victory at Whittier Christian.
They out-hit the Heralds, 13-1.
MHS has outscored Olympic League programs by a combined margin of 121-12.
Maranatha got to Caleb Orr and Zion Park for 14 runs on 13 hits and three walks.
And no one in the San Gabriel Valley or elsewhere is currently on the torrid pace than that of Cider Canon.
In his last seven at-bats, Canon has hit five home runs.
And that includes three on Wednesday.
Canon went 4-for-4 with six RBIs.
Dylan Zdunek walked, doubled, homered and scored three runs.
AJ Beltre walked, singled, scored and drove in a pair of runs.
Eric Zdunek singled, scored and had an RBI.
Bryan Richman and Dylan Garcia singled and scored one run apiece.
Doug Zuniga singled, drove in a run and scored.
Noah Everly went 2-for-2, scored and had an RBI.
Isaac Ton walked and scored.
Jackson Hisey went all five innings and allowed just one hit to earn the win.
Hisey walked two and struck out six.
Cody Crandall had the only hit of the game for the Heralds.
MHS’ victory on Wednesday wrapped up a three-game sweep of Whittier Christian.
Up next: The Minutemen host Heritage Christian on Friday at 6 at Brookside Park.
