Chaffey College jumped on Cerro Coso early on Wednesday, and Braden Hofmeyer did the rest in an 8-3 IEAC victory.
With six conference games to play, the Panthers hold a three-game lead over Mt. San Jacinto.
Hofmeyer went six innings and allowed just one run on six hits.
He issued one walk and fanned five Coyotes.
Brock Mayer gave up two runs on two hits over two innings.
And James Cantarero closed out the win with a scoreless ninth, including one strikeout.
Jordan Boman singled, doubled and scored.
Jax Holzem doubled and scored.
Dominic Lopez had an RBI base hit.
Jonluke Hobdy walked, singled and scored for Cerro Coso.
Clayton Detherage got the loss after surrendering five runs (two earned) on four hits.
Detherage went three innings, walked one and fanned a pair of Panthers.
Moises Soriano was touched up for three runs (one earned) on four hits over his 1 1/3 innings.
Clay Porter walked, singled, doubled and scored two runs.
Austin Easter singled, doubled, scored and had an RBI.
Jacob Billings singled, scored and had an RBI.
Michael Woodward singled and scored.
Eric Valdivia walked, singled twice and had two RBIs.
Matthew Chavez singled, doubled and scored.
Steven Mara walked, singled, doubled and scored.
Devin Martinez singled and scored.
Aaron Whobrey singled once in Wednesday’s road win.
