College Baseball:
With five games remaining on their 2023 schedule, PCC could realistically leapfrog Rio Hondo and ELAC into the SCC’s second spot if they win out.
On Tuesday, the Lancers hammered LA Harbor, 18-7, in a best-of-three series.
After their set with the Seahawks, PCC closes with seventh-place Compton.
They are one back of ELAC, and one-half game behind Rio Hondo, thanks to the Tartars 6-3 victory over the Roadrunners on Tuesday.
But back to Tuesday’s thumping.
The Lancers got five runs in the top of the second and seven more in the third inning.
Jared Stephenson got the loss after allowing eight runs on six hits over 2 1/3 innings.
He walked five and fanned one PCC batter.
Tommy Castillo had his best day in Lancers colors, going 5-for-5 with a home run, three runs and four RBIs.
Jake Trabbie walked three times, hit a three-run HR and finished with four RBIs.
Toshiki Kuriya went 2-for-3 with a home run and scored three runs.
Aryonis Harrison drew three walks, doubled, scored twice and had two RBIs.
Jakob Guardado walked, singled, scored and drove in one.
Jack Esguerra walked twice, singled, doubled, drove in a pair of runs and scored three times.
Matt Delgado walked and scored, and Amaris Harrison walked with the bases loaded.
Damien Ureta walked, went 2-for-5 with a run and drove in a pair.
Ivan Barragan singled and scored.
Kyle Noell went the first four innings and got roughed up for seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits, including a pair of home runs.
He walked one and had one strikeout.
Ben Griffith earned his second college win, going four scoreless innings and allowing just two hits.
Griffith walked two and fanned one.
Ian Schenk gave up two hits in the ninth, but he escaped any damage by striking out three LA Harbor batters.
Troy Harding singled, homered, scored twice and had two RBIs.
Cade Bargar walked and hit a three-run HR.
Julian Rodriguez walked, singled twice, doubled and scored.
Andrew Ravelo went 3-for-5 with one RBI.
Izaiah Argumedo singled twice and scored a pair of runs.
Joey McCormack singled, scored and drove in a run.
Ethan Kang singled and scored.
