Sam Grunberg & Brandon Nguyen Combine for Six Hits & Six RBIs in Glendale’s 12-8 Victory Over Citrus College

If a slugfest is your thing, Glendale Community College was the place to be on Friday.

The Vaqueros pounded out a 12-8 Western State Conference victory over Citrus in a game that featured 20 runs, 19 hits and seven pitchers.

The Owls got as close as 7-6 in the top of the sixth, but Glendale answered with four runs in the bottom half of that inning to pull away.

Geo Hernandez was credited with the win, allowing six runs on six hits over 5 2/3 innings.

He walked one and struck out six.

Brady Barbosa closed it out with two scoreless and hitless innings in relief.

Barbosa issued two walks and fanned four.

Connor Green went 3-for-4, with a walk, double, run and RBI.

Diego Gonzales had an RBI double and a sac fly for Citrus.

Roman Robles and Isaiah Pacheco doubled and scored one run each.

Chad Green singled and scored two runs.

Devon Diaz walked and scored.

Nicholas Santiago walked, scored and drove in a run on a sac fly.

Jake Entrup was saddled with the loss.

Entrup surrendered five runs on six hits over 1 2/3 innings.

He walked two and failed to register a strikeout.

Sam Grunberg had an RBI double and a three-run home run for Glendale.

Former Arcadia star Brandon Nguyen went 4-for-5 with a double, two runs and a pair of RBIs.

Jackson Benattar walked twice, doubled and scored twice.

Tommy Italia had a two-run triple in the bottom of the third inning to give the Vaqueros a 4-2 lead.

Alec Garcia doubled in one run and drove in another on a sac fly.

Nick Sutherlin walked, singled and scored two runs.

Andrew Cisneros walked twice, single and scored twice.

Up next: Citrus welcomes Glendale on Saturday at 1.
