College Baseball:
Chaffey and PCC met up Friday in a nonconference showdown at Brookside Park.
The Panthers claimed a 7-4 victory with thanks to a five-run sixth inning.
Donovann Jackson went six innings to earn the win.
Jackson surrendered two runs on five hits.
He walked three and fanned five PCC batters.
Josh VerKuilen (two innings) and Brock Mayer combined to go the final three innings to secure the win.
Jake Trabbie singled, tripled, scored and had an RBI.
Aryonis Harrison singled twice and scored.
Amaris Harrison walked and had an RBI single.
Toshiki Kuriya went 3-for-4, walked and drove in a pair of runs.
Matt Rice walked and singled for the Lancers.
Jakob Guardado doubled and scored.
Guardado got the loss, allowing five runs (three earned) on eight hits over his 5 1/3 innings.
He walked three and struck out two Chaffey batters.
Clay Porter walked twice, had two doubles, scored a pair of runs and had two RBIs.
Jacob Billings went 2-for-5 and scored.
Michael Woodward walked, scored and had an RBI triple.
Aaron Whobrey singled three times and scored.
Brock Mayer went 2-for-4, scored once and drove in a run.
Up next: The Panthers and Lancers will both return to conference play on Tuesday.
PCC travels to LA Harbor, and Chaffey visits Cerro Coso.
