Baseball:

There are tough losses that baseball players have to endure.

And then there are those kicked-in-the-stones type of losses.

Unfortunately, Alta Loma suffered the latter on Thursday.

Looking for their first Palomares League win, the Braves took a 7-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning.

Ayala, however, rallied for six runs in the final frame, and stunned ALHS, 8-7, to remain in a three-way tie atop the Palomares League standings with Bonita and Glendora.

To make things tougher, the game ended on an Alta Loma error.

Dominic Paris was charged with six runs (three earned) on three hits and two walks over just 2/3 of an inning.

Moeses Baron had a terrific outing for the Braves.

Baron went six innings and allowed just one run on six hits.

He walked one and fanned one AHS batter.

Thomas Estepa and Jake Lemoine had seventh-inning singles that plated two runs apiece.

The Estepa hit saw both runs score on an error.

Lemoine finished 3-for-4, including a solo HR, two runs and three RBIs.

Estepa also had three hits and scored once.

Andrew Torres had an RBI single in the first inning and an RBI ground out in the seventh-inning rally.

Caleb Trugman walked and scored.

Ethan Nunez was hit by pitch and scored.

Aidan Erlandsen walked, singled twice and scored.

The Braves got to Matt Yarc for five runs on 10 hits over 3 2/3 innings.

Yarc issued three walks and struck out seven.

Cadin Gates was credited with the win after going 3 1/3 innings and surrendering two runs on three hits.

Gates didn’t walk a batter and fanned one.

Paris went 3-for-3, with a walk, run and RBI.

Tucker Kraushaar and Daniel Martinez singled and scored one run apiece.

Evan Salcido singled three times and scored twice.

Baron went 2-for-3 with three RBIs.

Andrew Galindo’s two-run HR in the top of the seventh extended the Braves lead to 7-2.

Up next: Ayala will host Claremont on Tuesday, while Alta Loma battles Highland on Saturday afternoon.
