Softball:
Glendora was one out from handing Ayala its first loss of 2023.
But a sophomore named Taelor Walker had other ideas.
Walker’s two-run base hit lifted the Bulldogs to a 2-1 walk-off victory over the visiting Tartans.
Glendora took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, as Ryan Speh singled in a run.
Allie Lukaszewicsz went four innings, allowing an unearned run on one hit and two walks.
Lukaszewicsz struck out four.
Karson Zavala would provide three scoreless and hitless innings to get the win.
Zavala didn’t issue a walk and struck out four.
MacKenzie Mackie had the other GHS hit on Wednesday.
Bridget Nemeth deserved better.
Nemeth went 6 2/3 innings and allowed a pair of unearned runs on five hits.
She walked one and struck out five Ayala batters.
Ryanna Alano singled and scored.
Walker had a single to go along with her two-run base hit.
Tehya Banks singled and scored for the Bulldogs.
Marisa Dominguez, Lilanna Acosta and McKenzy Beccera had one hit apiece for Ayala.
Up next: AHS and GHS will both be in action on Thursday.
The Bulldogs travel to Colony, and the Tartans host Claremont.
