South Hills took a leg up in their quest for another Hacienda League title on Wednesday.
The Huskies defeated visiting Walnut, 4-2, to hand the Mustangs their first league setback.
Sterling Patick went six scoreless innings to earn the win.
He scattered three hits, walked three and fanned eight Mustangs.
Walnut got a pair of unearned runs of Matt Moreno in the seventh inning.
Matt Santiago walked, doubled and scored.
JJ Rodriguez doubled and scored.
Jon Maldonado walked, singled and had an RBI.
Liam Velasco got the loss, allowing four runs (one earned) on six hits.
Velasco went five innings, walked two and struck out one Huskies batter.
Marcos Rosales walked and hit a solo home run.
Dom Prieto singled, doubled, scored and drove in a run.
Steven Jimenez doubled and scored.
Noah Malone walked and singled.
Luke Bauer singled and scored.
