Down Late, Chaffey College Rallies For 9-5 IEAC Victory at SBVC; Panthers Extend Win Streak to 15 Games

College Baseball:

The San Bernardino Valley College baseball program had a two-run lead and needed just six outs to hand Chaffey its first loss in 43 days.

But the Panthers got two in the top of the eighth and four more in the ninth to claim a 9-5 IEAC victory at SBVC.

Chaffey got three runs on five hits over 1 2/3 innings off Angel Nicoli Colli, and five runs (four earned) on three hits and three walks from Jacob Woods.

The Panthers out-hit SBVC, 16-8, and 12 players had at least one hit on Thursday.

Clay Porter singled, tripled and scored.

Jacob Billings walked, doubled, drove in a run and scored twice.

Christian Mosqueda went 2-for-2 and scored twice.

Michael Woodward walked, singled twice, scored and drove in a run.

Devin Martinez singled, scored and had two RBIs.

Austin Easter went 2-for-5 with a run and RBI.

Aaron Whobrey walked twice, singled and scored.

Yahir Ramirez had an RBI single for the Panthers.

Zach Kim singled in a run.

Braden Hofmeyer went the first six innings for Chaffey, and allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits.

Hofmeyer walked two and struck out four.

Nathaniel Garcia provided three innings of relief and allowed one run on three hits.

He issued one walk and fanned five.

Michael McQueen walked, singled and had two RBIs.

Nathan Campos-Jaramillo and Alexander Jurado doubled and scored one run each.

Aidan Skinner singled, doubled and scored.

Jason Del Villar singled in a run.

Cy Robertson singled and scored and Anthony Yepez walked, singled, scored and had one RBI.

Up next: The Panthers host SBVC on Saturday at 1, and hope to secure a three-game IEAC sweep.
