RCHS Scores Four Runs in Sixth to Defeat Etiwanda, 4-1; Foulds Goes Distance, Allowing One Run & Striking Out Six

Baseball:

Rancho Cucamonga handed Etiwanda its first Baseline League setback of the 2023 season.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Cougars scored four runs and claimed a 4-1 victory.

Brock Foulds earned the win.

Foulds went the distance and allowed one run on five hits.

He issued one walk and struck out six.

EHS scored in the top of the first when Austen Roellig doubled and scored on an RBI single from Parker Sobiesiak.

Michai Harrison went 2-for-3, and Tyler Shigenaka singled to account for the rest of the Eagles’ offense.

Nico Neri was saddled with the loss.

Neri also went the distance, allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits.

Neri didn’t walk a batter and struck out one.

The sixth-inning rally began with an error and a bunt single by Foulds.

Jacob McCombs would get the Cougars even with an RBI single.

Joshua Almeda singled in two and RCHS took a 3-1 lead.

Almeda would come around and score on a Dylan Escobar single and an Etiwanda error.

McCombs went 2-for-3, with a run and RBI.

Up next: RCHS and EHS will face off for the third time on Friday at Etiwanda.
