Baseball:
On Monday afternoon, the Mission Valley League’s first and last place programs met up.
And the result was indicative of that mismatch.
Marshall Fundamental crushed winless El Monte, 23-4 in four innings, and improved to 6-0 in MVL games.
Nick Chew doubled, scored twice and had a pair of RBIs.
Nate Callaway walked twice, doubled, had an RBI and scored three times.
Wes Pendleton homered, scored three runs and had two RBIs.
Jesus Flores walked, scored twice and had an RBI.
Austin Flores singled, doubled, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.
Ryan Pandullo walked, had three RBIs and two runs.
Caleb Delgado singled, scored and drove in two.
Nathan Mann walked, scored three runs and had one RBI.
Owen Hom drew three walks, singled and scored twice.
Delgado went two innings and allowed four unearned runs on three hits.
He walked two and fanned three El Monte batters.
Callaway provided two scoreless innings of relief and allowed one hit.
Callaway didn’t issue a walk and struck out four.
Up next: The Eagles travel to Mountain View (4-7-1) today (Tuesday) at 3:30.
