Baseball:
Damien earned the three-game Baseline League sweep of Upland on Saturday at Quakes Stadium.
Nathan Ries, Paul Barrera and Tony Lopez combined on a five-hit shutout, as Damien claimed a 7-0 victory.
Ries went four innings to earn the win, and allowed three hits, walked two and fanned three UHS batters.
Barrera provided two scoreless innings, including one hit, two walks and four strikeouts.
And Lopez got the final three outs, two of which came via strikeout.
Noah Garbick, Carlos Arteaga, Andrew Ash, Griffin Cunningham and Joseph Chacon had one single apiece for the Highlanders.
Ryan Harrison got the loss.
Harrison surrendered four runs on three hits and two walks in one inning of work.
Andrew Carter doubled twice, scored a pair of runs and had three RBIs.
Nikko Paoletto walked, doubled and scored.
Justin Dunn singled and scored.
Daniel Serna went 2-for-3, with a run and RBI.
Justin Hines walked twice and scored.
Jett Hernandez singled, scored and had one RBI.
Tyler Daley singled twice and drove in a pair of runs.
Up next: Damien and Upland will both be in action on Monday.
The Spartans face Foothill and the Highlanders travel to Los Osos.
